Ida Tarbell Portrait Of A Muckraker by Kathleen Brady
Main Article Content
Abstract
It is good to have Kathleen Brady’s Ida Tarbell: Portrait of a Muckraker available in paperback. Its original appearance in 1984 filled a long-standing void. True, Tarbell (185 7-1944) had written a helpful, very readable autobiography, All in a Day’s Work (1939) and a revealing self-portrait, The Business of Being a Woman (1912). But we needed a full-scale biography of one of Erie County’s most important contributions to American culture. Brady’s book is well-written, concise, and informative.
