A History of the Lawrence Park Town Site
Main Article Content
Abstract
The history of the Lawrence Park town site is the story of one company’s attempt to provide for its workers a perfect environment in which to work and live. The architecture and lay- out of the town site reflects careful planning and a conscious utopian design. This design, which was influenced by Sir Ebenezer Howard and the “Garden City” movement which swept London at the end of the 19th century, provided inhabitants with the advantage of living close to the work place but far enough away to enjoy a healthy, controllable environment.
