Stitching Memories
Main Article Content
Abstract
At the age of four Mary E. Madden learned to embroider under the watchful guidance of her mother. These early efforts consisted of line drawings on scraps of linen on which she could learn and practice the basic stitches. It is very doubtful that either Mother or daughter realized the significant impact that the time spent learning her stitches would have on Mary E.’s later life.
