Abstract
Thunder of the earth! Such was the name bestowed by the Chinese in 300 A.D. to a container or projectile filled with their miraculous and magical invention: black powder. The resonance of China’s convulsive thunder and its application of destruction would soon echo throughout the nations of the world.
