Abstract
This excerpt from a typescript of an 1865 article in The London Times came into the possession of ECHS courtesy of the late Christian Ostergard. We were unable to identify its author. The article describes the early oil boom days in southeastern Erie, eastern Crawford and north central Venango Counties (Corry to Oil City). The environmentally sensitive may note that progress has been made in the past 130 years in the oil extraction industry. - ed.
