Home Front Snap Shot An Informal Portrait of Edinboro, PA During Word War II
Main Article Content
Abstract
On the evening of May 24, 2000, the people of Edinboro and the surrounding area gathered to celebrate their local history in a special way. The firehall held close to four hundred people who had come together to share their family photographs and memories of World War II and its impact on their lives. Scrap books, yearbooks, and military service records were on display, and a panel had been assembled to share recollections of wartime life on the Home Front. Threads of family and personal history were being woven into a rich tapestry of local history. By opening their scrapbooks and retelling their experiences, the many people who participated in this event helped recognize and preserve an important piece of local history through a multigenerational sharing of images and experiences.
