Abstract
John Howard Wilson was born on 25 September 1920, the first child of John C. and Sabina Emig Wilson, who lived on Liberty Street in Erie, Pennsylvania. The boy became known as “Jack,” like his father. After graduation from Academy High School in January 1939, Jack went to Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. On 7 December 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, and Jack registered for the draft in February 1942. He was inducted into the U. S. Army on 20 August. The next day, he became engaged to his girlfriend.
