Abstract
THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF PENNSYLVANIA possesses the richest collection of documents relating to the drafting of the U.S. Constitution, the engrossed text of the Constitution and James Madison's Notes of the 1787 convention aside. This introductory essay is based on a series of articles in the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law.
