“When I heard the prompt I knew exactly what I wanted to do. In high school, I made an art piece with a similar theme. This poem is based off of that piece. The piece was inspired by the style of Salvador Dali. It was meant to represent feelings of guilt after being in a toxic relationship. The poem takes a different term though. The original art piece was when I was freshly out of the relationship and still confused with my emotions. The poem, in turn, was written at a point when I felt like I had healed and had a different point of view on the situation.”
