Abstract
Most athletes have a family support system that encourages and sustains them in their drive to succeed. Jordan Geist has that and so much more. Like many kids, Jordan started his athletic career playing tee ball and “coach pitch” baseball, but the sport of baseball had little appeal for him. Instead, Jordan found himself drawn to the trophies and awards displayed in the family basement. Both his parents were standout athletes at Slippery Rock. His father, Jim, who specialized in the javelin, still holds school and PSAC records in that event and was named a four-time All-American. Geist’s mother, Judy, also achieved two-time All-American status in both indoor and outdoor shot put. The two became the first husband-and-wife duo to be inducted into the Slippery Rock Sports Hall of Fame.
