Keystone State in Crisis: The Civil War in Pennsylvania
Main Article Content
Abstract
Judith Giesberg in Keystone State in Crisis provides a brief analysis of the impact Pennsylvania had on the Civil War and the impact of the Civil War on Pennsylvania. She acknowledges from the outset of her book that it is designed to uncover noteworthy events in Pennsylvania, but does not seek to provide an in-depth investigation supported with original research; rather, it seeks to inspire a greater amount of local scholarship addressing the impacts of the Civil War on Pennsylvania’s social fabric, economy, and political thinking. In this respect, Giesberg accomplishes her goal. Her research uncovers a multitude of questions that require further research.
