Abstract
The stars must have been aligned properly in the summer of 1987 when Dr. Diane Beynon Landers, an archaeologist, accepted a job with GAI Consultants, an engineering firm in Pittsburgh. They, in turn, had just begun an archaeological excavation near the Heinz factory on East Ohio Street, for the linkage of I-279 with Route 28, in compliance with environmental regulations and in advance of construction for PennDot’s I-279/579 Expressway. Then came the twist.
