Neighborhood Stories: Karen Bryant and the Mine Wars Museum

Abstract

There is a familiar quote: "Every person should plant a tree, have a child, and write a book. These all live on after us, ensuring a measure of immortality," attributed to both the Talmud and José Martí, Cuban revolutionary and poet. The first two, perhaps not so hard, but writing a book is formidable. My friend, Karen Bryant has done it, but in such extraordinary circumstances, that the writing of the book becomes its own tale.
