Abstract
It is relatively easy to document a business. What is harder to document is a business climate. How can you learn what it felt like to operate a certain type of business in a certain area at a certain period of time? The Bernard and Ruth Levaur Papers and Photographs (2021.0071), held at the Rauh Jewish Archives, contain records of a local retail institution as well as the role that business played in the larger climate of downtown Pittsburgh in a transitional era.
