Original Article
Original articles discuss original clinical or basic science research with clinical application. Examples of these submissions include randomized controlled trials (RCTs), systematic reviews, observational studies, retrospective chart review studies, quality improvement studies, medical education research, diagnostic test studies, and studies based on survey data.
Please see the author guidelienes tab for information on requirements for this category of submission.
Brief Report
Brief Reports are submissions that will document original research in a more concise manner. These studies are ideal for studies/research that are in earlier phases, pilot studies, studies with inconclusive findings or statistically non-significant results, or simply concise studies. Research abstracts may also be considered for submission in this category, given that the study was completed and provides final results. Brief reports are similar in structure to original articles and will have the same sections, but will be written in a more concise manner.
Please see the author guidelienes tab for information on requirements for this category of submission.
Case Report
Case reports should describe clinical presentations, most often clinical scenarios of an uncommon presentation of a common pathology or a common presentation of an uncommon pathology. Case reports must be written based on first-hand knowledge or experience with a patient in the clinical setting. Each case report should have at least three clear learning objectives that can be conveyed from the case presenation and the subsequent discussion.
